Hello!
My name is Bethany. I was born in Camberley, Surrey, England. During my childhood my most memorable times were spent in the zoo’s, petting zoo’s and Aquariums.
I loved to fish, look for tadpoles and newts, visit nature exhibits and create insect habitats.I was fascinated with animals and nature. I would much prefer to read an encyclopedia over fiction.
I moved to Ontario from British Columbia at 18 to pursue a career in social work. I spent ten years working in the human services field as a Child and Youth worker and Developmental Service Worker. This came to an end when I herniated discs in my lumbar spine which required surgical intervention and could no longer lift or transfer my clients.
At the time of my accident I had a passion for taking in farm animals who were needing homes. A suggestion from a friend to open the farm to the public in order to support the animals rescued was the very start of the farm we see today.
My hopes are to continue to combine the ethical standard and practices in the social field with the gentle, non verbal kindness that animals seek and share. These two go hand in hand, and both create a safe, fun and interactive experience like no other!
Touch is so important and our farm allows you to do just that!
